Conversions and Change of Use, Refurbishment and Extensions, Structural Design and Reports

STS Structural Engineering was originally involved in the structural remedial works in 2008, and has been involved in the planning process to convert a section of the hostel into residential units in line with the Camden council planning policies.

The property was originally used as a hostel for nurses undergoing training in the nearby hospital, but was left abandoned for a number of years. Partially exposed to elements, and also damaged in WW2, these late 18th century listed buildings have suffered decay. A number of structural defects have developed over time. The structural defects were remedied in 2008 and the hostel was put into use.

Nearly four years later, STS was again involved in this project, and together with Quod Planning is working on securing a planning application for the partial change of use and refurbishment of one of the town-houses into dwelling units.

STS Structural Engineering was later involved in producing planning drawings following enforcement and appeals to obtain a planning application for the change of use of the original premises into a backpacker’s hostel (sui-generis) and 8 self-contained flats.
